Re: New pond design
Hi Scruffy, Sorry for the late reply. I have been looking at this a couple of times but there's quite a lot to take in, looks very good as far as I can tell. You seem to have taken everything into account here. I'll give my thoughts on what you posted: So at last I have the resources to remove my pu...

Re: Air flow VERSUS water flow
Hi,
You are right, adding more air will improve performance but it will not be efficient with a 100mm tube. Please refer to our testing to see what combinations work best:

Re: air-tank hill fire pump
Good day, I have to say, I loved this idea, very unique. I don't know if it would be possible though. The amount of pressure you will generate with an airlift is usually limited. You will have significant discharge head as well. If you would try this you would have to build a small diameter airlift,...

Re: Air pumps in parallel
Hey Frank, To me it seems like multiple smaller pumps will always give better efficiency than one large pump. As measured in our tests. I don't think you can overcome this difference with any of the airlift types we know of. If I were building a pond where I would need a flow of 45000L per hour for ...

Re: pipe size
Hi, sorry to have missed your post. 65mm would still work. In general smaller pipe diameters give more potential for lift (so more discharge head) at the cost of total amount of possible flow. On an airlift that size I'm not sure how many holes would be ideal. I would use the same principle we use o...

Small update
Good day, As some of you may have noticed I haven't been able to keep up with the forum for a while. Usually I try to get to any new messages in a timely manner, at the minimum, while I'm preparing for new content. I have a number of airlift related projects going on but I've had to put them on hold...

Re: All current test results! Chamber + Membrane Airlifts!
Hi, I'm so glad to discover these great experiments! I was really missing the scientific approach up until know. That's good to hear! :) A few questions: - with the pressure chamber the results were better (ie more water) with a depth of 140 rather than 170: why is this? - with the pressure chamber...

Re: Air Lift for Under Gravel Filter System
Hi, I'll answer the best I can in the quote below. For me to better understand the design, a drawing would be helpful. I am designing an under gravel filter and want to use a pressure chamber airlift to move the water. It will work just like an aquarium with bubblers on an under gravel filter - just...

Re: Airlift to move water horizontally
Hello, I'm not understanding what you want to do exactly. Could you share a drawing? Or elaborate? If you want to use an airlift to move water over a distance of 10 meters horizontally, the only way I can think of is to build a standard pressure chamber model, use it in the same way as you usually w...

Hey SLK,
Thanks for sharing, looks really interesting.
I had a quick look but I'll leave a proper reply later when I have time.
Your setup looks great!

Hey Frank,
Sorry for the late reply, I've been swamped with work.
Looks amazing! Which fish will you be keeping in it?
You will run a self-built airlift in it I presume? A membrane disk airlift?

Re: Good pump and attachment?
Good luck with it. My remaining tip would be, if you really have to lift 30cm with the airlift, try to use a smaller diameter rising pipe. This will hurt your maximum output but using our standard model for 30cm discharge head situations will probably give you no output at all. If you have any furth...

Re: Good pump and attachment?
Good day, I have seen the brand before, but I have no personal experience with these pumps. Good results have been achieved with Secoh pumps. The older model, the SLL-20 for example. I believe they recently became available again. Alternatively I would personally go with a Secoh JDK-30, or bigger de...

Re: Can an airlift lift water above water level?
Hello, You can, but at that point it will no longer be efficient at all. In this scenario I would advise a normal water pump. See this video for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9OgVnuhCpg Discharge head has to be lower than 10cm in my opinion, for any practical use. With any discharge he...
